My journey in music began when I asked to start taking piano lessons a few months before my eleventh birthday. From the first lesson, I knew I had found the path for me. Since then, almost 25 years later, my love for music remains stronger than ever, and I'm continuously grateful for the many wonderful experiences music has brought to my life.
Following studies with Eleanor Gummer and Garth Beckett during high school, I went on to complete Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance at McGill University under the tutelage of Kyoko Hashimoto and Richard Raymond. In my time at McGill, I was fortunate to benefit from lessons, coachings, and masterclasses with several other renowned pedagogues, including Tom Plaunt, Ilya Poletaev, Alan Weiss, and Robert Silverman.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of performing both solo and collaborative concerts in Canada and South Korea, where my wife Sinae and I lived for 11 years. One of my personal highlights was a 2024 solo recital in Busan where I gave the Korean premieres of several piano works and included spoken commentary in Korean on the music featured in the program.
